So long!

Massage and conference

The day started with some introductions for Anvar (started at work today) about our products and showing him around. We are probably going to work quite closely in the near future with the new profile-project for AdAction. Really interesting.

Then I had some massage (yes, we get it at work now for a very small fee), which was real nice. My back is a little bit softer now : )

3d_pie_chartThe whole afternoon was full of presentations about what is going on with the company… Budgets, expectations, new projects and stuff. In the middle I had the chance to present how the new profile-project works, and it looks like that if it will work, a rather large portion of our income will come from that product. Just hope it will work.. There will be quite a lot of planning and trying things before we start up the real work.. there will take probably at least 3-4 weeks before we write any code that will go into production. Right now I have a proof-of-concept / prototype to the profile component inside the adserver. The next step is to decide how the things will work in the admin and log import, and then also the tough part, the database layer. It has to be fast, slimmed and easy to integrate into our existing infrastructure and components. Quite of a challenge…

That’s it for now… have a couple of books to read before wednesday, so that’s my primary target for tonight…

Problems with subversion

Today we had two incidents with subversion…

The first was that I was all of a sudden getting conflicts on non-changed files when I did a merge – solved with upgrade of svn and patching the branch to where I merged with missing files and crap… I just don’t trust the “svnmerge”-tool that much, since now we don’t really know what is in what repository… Files that had changed over 3 months ago still had the old settings in them…

The other was that merges wasn’t appearing when a merge had been made.. This was caused by DOI or something… the changes hadn’t been committed in the original place…

so, to blame or not blame svn is the question… we don’t really have the time to change it to some other system, and I don’t really like git that the rest of the guys at work do… it just feels a little.. weird.. but, maybe it’s just that I don’t know so much about it…

So many projects…

Well, there are almost too many projects that I would like to take on right now…

We have the profiler-stuff, logging, datacenter, shared repository, gui and some more… the list was getting a little bit long…

The big problem is the time.. Some of the projects will be made on my sparetime, and the others will just be researched right now. This and next week is a little hectic, since I’ve got to go to school for wednesday and thursday, and I’ve got hundreds of pages to read in, and also continue on my report for my schoolproject, which is for the shared repository… it’s grown to over 15 pages now, but it’s just halfdone… there are lots of schemas and text to write and finetune…

I just don’t know how to get the time to do it all… maybe some time at work to do some of my schoolwork would be necessary..

sleep tight!

Recap of the last year…

on-time_clock_2I’ve just moved the old devblog from my work (only my posts) to my private blog now. I just realized that it is almost exactly a year ago when I wrote the last post there – only missed it by two weeks…

So, since I haven’t written anything about me or my personal stuff, I thought that I should begin by doing a recap of what has happened in the last year. If you’re reading this, then you probably know me already, but what the heck…

In short words: I got single, was on my own for about 10 months, found the best girl in the world, and now I’m not single anymore ;-)

Things that has happened the last year in short:

  • became single
  • renovated almost the whole apartment including removing some walls
  • dated a few times
  • started an it-architect education
  • became un-single

I’m gonna try to write more often that last year, and also probably more about me and my life, and not only about work, although that will probably happen anyway :-)

kthxbye!
